My partner and I love being outdoors and surrounded by beautiful scenery, nature, wildlife and exploring. Here’s a list of places below that we have camped at so far and would highly recommend:
Glen Nevis Caravan and Camping Park
Glen Nevis camping park was the 1st camping park my partner and I went to 3 years ago. It’s located in Fort William and roughly took 2/3 hours if you drive. We heard so much about Ben Nevis through family and friends as it’s the highest mountain in the British Isles and wanted to stay somewhere close by as we arranged to climb Ben when we got there.
As soon as we reached our camping park we were instantly blown away with the views! it was incredible. I noticed that our campsite had a food van which I knew would come in handy after our hike up and down Ben Nevis. After settling in we started to prepare ourselves for our hike and at this point didn’t know what was in store. We made our way to the starting point of the walking trail and as we weren’t in a rush we took our time and enjoyed the views on our way up. We finally got to the top and started cheering with joy with sweat dripping down our face! We couldn’t really see much as it was foggy but we were surrounded by other people and the atmosphere was amazing. After resting for an hour or so we made started making our way down slowly and back to the campsite.
When reaching the bottom we headed straight to the food van and had lots of food and beers. We stayed at this campsite for 1 night as we really went there to climb Ben Nevis but would definitely go back to explore more of area we were in.
Loch Lomond was the 2nd campsite my partner and I went to as it was recommended by a family friend. We went here last year in 2018 round about May and there’s so much to explore. We stayed at Cashel campsite for 2 nights, small, clean, quiet and also has toilets. More information can be found on cashel campsite and what we recommend taking when camping on my all posts page
Loch Ness home to the legendary Loch Ness Monster! We went in May 2018 and stayed at the Loch Ness shores camping and caravan club site. Weather was good note to hot or cold with a small amount of wind which helped with horribly annoying midges! Campsite was amazing very clean, quiet and had bathrooms with showers.
