This year's festival promises as much entertainment as the last and also promises that the sun dance will be performed the week before. I keep being asked how much it costs: nowt! it's a community event.
Action will be at the Lochrin Basin (Edinburgh end of the Union Canal, near Cargo bar - multimap) and will kick off with the official opening at 12pm. Here's a taster of what to expect:
water-based: raft race | free boat trips | canoe polo | water walkers
wee boat flotilla | canal dipping | canoe taster sessions | model boat display
land-based: bands | art exhibition | street performers | stalls | community mural | trampolines face painting | petting zoo (gorgie farm)

The Edinburgh Canal Festival is a not-for-profit community event. Sponsored by British Waterways and the City of Edinburgh Council, the festival is co-ordinated by Re-Union Canal Boats, who work with a wide range of community groups and local businesses.
